New! With the Celtics moving on to Round 2, the first round standings have been tabulated. Your early leaders? None other than Jen S. (last year's co-winner) and Joe Netsfan his own self. (Please check my math and email me if I got it wrong, since I've been known to do that in nearly every round lately...). Odds And Ends For Thursday
A few brief mentions here on a Thursday morning about things Nets...first, check out Joe's commentary in the ESPN The Magazine's Ultimate Rankings for your Nets. We're number 100! Then, check out the interview that Inside Hoops conducted with none other than Darrell Armstrong, who's still going strong at (almost) 40 and says he wants to play another year, and eventually coach...
Also, and perhaps much more importantly, Vince Carter had surgery yesterday on his troublesome right ankle, having more work done than perhaps anticipated, including removing multiple loose bodies, a bone spur, and having a debridement performed on the ankle. Hopes for a speedy recovery and a full effort in training camp.

Two Worthwhile Endeavors: Shirts Vs. Skins and Project Franchise
I think we all need a break for the woes of the Nets right now, so here are a few things that were sent to me this week that you should definitely check out. The first, from longtime Net fan and resident comedy genius Matt Besser (from the great Upright Citizens Brigade) is a hilarious (though not PG) comedy short entitled "Shirts and Skins" that you should check out (you MUST be 18 to watch it, and we're serious about that). It still has me laughing, and I've watched it a dozen times...
The second is your chance, Netsfans, to be part of a franchise though a new web site called Project Franchise. The idea is that for $5 regular fans can buy the right to vote on all team decisions of any team they buy (team name, personnel, lineups, whatever the league lets them get away with.) The fans will choose which team and which league they join based on how many supporters they get. It's a bit more complicated than that, but check out the website and help get involved. You know you want a say in something basketball-related (especially all you armchair GM's)...this is your chance.
