Action Packed Monday
Holy smokes, Thornski does it again!
A day after getting rid of Robert Hite (who I would still argue would be an interesting keeper on the roster), the Nets pick up roster flexibility and avoid the luxury tax by trading Mile Ilic and Bernard Robinson to New Orleans for David Wesley. All three players were subsequently waived, with both teams picking up the roster space they wanted.
The Nets now go with 13 on the roster - love to know who the nightly non-dresser will be once everyone is healthy. For now it will be Marcus Williams, obviously.
Will the Nets pick anyone up? Lots of bantering about Allan Houston. Hassan Adams was a final cut in Cleveland. Hite could come back on a moment's notice, as could Eddie Gill (rumored to be headed to Sacto, and he might already be there). The Nets could always use another shooter off the bench, right? Check the last minute cuts and see who's around.
Marcus Williams and Josh Boone also had the options on their contracts picked up. Good for them both - in year 2, we expect bigger and better from them.
As we do from all the Nets.
Did RJ hurt his heel in practice today? Is it worse than anyone let on? Let the injury train stop for awhile, already.
Lots more to cover as we get set for the opening tip on Wednesday night. Tomorrow brings the Nets preview (check out the NBA Preview if you haven't already) and the first Opponent file of the season. There's still a Diatribe and a Backlash on the way (need a clear calendar, which should happen over the weekend). And much, much more as we get moving on!
