Brian Scalabrine – F
Joe: Watch the nicknames pile up for this guy if he makes the team. Big Red just seems to invite them. Smart pick for the second round, Brian's gonna leave it all on the floor. He hustles, he can score a little and defend, and he'll give you an honest effort every night out. That's all you can ask. Hope he makes the team and shows Collins how to play basketball.

Champagne: Gee, another forward. How exciting. The back of his jersey should read "He Trade Me." I'll eat three Harry M. Stevens hot dogs if this character is still around in April (that's a big deal. Have you tried one?). I see some "showcase" airtime and not much else. We get enough "honest effort" out of A-train and crew. [Update! February 1, 2002] Boy, am I an ignoramus. Not only did he play great in the preseason, but it's clear, after his first regular-season NBA game, Scalabrine is going to be around a long while past April. I'm ready take my punishment and eat those Continental Arena hot dogs now.
