Brandon Armstrong – G
Known For: Shooter's mentality, high-scoring college career at Pepperdine, potential at either guard position, not leaving the bench (or being activated).

The Real Deal: A serious reach at #23 in 2001, he looked lost, lonely and scared whenever he entered the game. Mercifully, Byron Scott figured it out and edited him from the program last season. Look for a host of "suspicious" injuries and a lot of DNP - CD's from Mr Armstrong this season. Hey, the Nets could use a highly paid head cheerleader now that Donny Marshall has moved on...

Joe's Update: Will this be the year that Armstrong breaks through, or not? Most probably not, even though the Nets desperately need someone who can make outside shots. Rumored to be a favorite of Rod Thorn's (and the best outside shooter on the team, at least in practice) but not Byron Scott's, Armstrong is still around only to fill an injury list spot and give Netsfans someone to joke about. Tamar Slay seems to have more potential at this point, but then again, we haven't seen enough of Armstrong, either last season or in the Summer Leagues (he had to have some dental work done - what's next? The dog ate my jump shot?) to make any sort of guess. Might still be a candidate for a trade or the waiver wire, despite his guaranteed deal.
