Rejuvinated, with something to prove in Beantown
Opponent File
Boston Celtics
The Celtics play at the TD Banknorth Garden (that
has some ring to it, huh?) in Boston. Their 2006 - 2007 record was 24
- 58 (last in the Atlantic). Here's the Boston

Season Goal: Are you kidding? This team should be playing for the championship. With KG, Ray Ray and Pierce, anything less is a waste of talent. Now, let's see them do it.

Mean Green Steam Machine
Rejuvinated in Beantown thanks to the heist(s) of the Century, Paul Pierce must think he's died and gone to heaven. Yes, the Celtics are rebuilt and are just flat out steamrollering teams in their 4 - 0 start. The key? Kevin Garnett, who's been dominant inside and leading the C's with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. Oh, he's shooting 62% as well. They Big Three of Boston average 68 points per game, which is impressive. But they get at it defensively too, outscoring their first four opponents by an average of 18 per game. Scary stuff, and something the Nets need to consider when they get deep into the game. The C's bench is nothing to write home about, though, so it's up to the Nets to take advantage of the point guard (Rajon Rondo) through Jason Kidd, and look to light it up with Carter and Jefferson leading the charge. Get mean, Nets!
Why
Should You Watch? Watch what things could have been like in NJ if a trade for Garnett could have been done. Garnett could have a field day against the Nets centers, or Jamaal Magloire and Jason Collins could do the trick. Hard to say what will happen. Expect RJ to get the best of Pierce, as he usually does. Ray Allen is the guy the Nets have to guard on the perimeter, because if he goes off, the Nets could be looking at double digits deficits quickly. Antoine Wright could be a difference maker tonight, with his defense and his shooting. Never thought we'd say that. And watch the chess match between Lawrence Frank and Doc Rivers - first one to move all the pieces in the right place wins.

Boston Celtics Cheat Sheet
The Story From Beantown: From the Boston Globe: "Forward Brian Scalabrine suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of the Celtics' 106-83 victory over the Hawks last night at TD Banknorth Garden. Scalabrine was coherent when he was taken from the arena in uniform on a stretcher to New England Baptist Hospital for observation, but isn't expected to play tonight against the Nets. Forward James Posey missed last night's game with lower-back spasms and isn't expected to play tonight.
"[Tonight's] going to be tough because not having Scal, most likely, not having Posey . . . ," said coach Doc Rivers. "Like I say all the time, we pay them all. Someone's going to step up. Tony Allen's going to step up. Somebody's going to step up for us."
Pain Game: F James Posey (back spasms) and F Brian Scalabrine (concussion) aren't likely to play. G Marcus Williams (foot) is out for the Nets.
