Atlanta Hawks (1 - 1) - Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 7:30PM EST - Izod Center
New Look, New Respect?
They're now dressed in black, they're still young, and they want to run often. The new-look Hawks even have a win against the Dallas Mavericks, which certainly got some attention, as well as playing the Pistons tough on Sunday night, losing by a point. They've got all sorts of young legs surrounding G Joe Johnson, including rookies Al Horford and Acie Law, and they should scare the pants off the often listless thus far Nets. The Nets in turn are banged up (Kidd and Carter are dealing with nagging injuries to the thigh and thumb, respectively) but still have plenty of veteran talent in which to teach the youngsters a lesson. Should be an interesting read on where the Nets are at - another young team with legs ran them out of their own building a few nights ago. Time to take advantage of the home court (next four are all at home) with a lesson-teaching win to the young whippersnappers. Wait until the Hawks feel the weight of expectations on their shoulder...
Why
Should You Watch? Start with the new black uniforms, and watch the Hawks fly all over the court. Joe Johnson is a great (albeit somewhat crazy man for leaving Phoenix to come here) shooting guard, and with the two new rookies, makes for an exciting up and down flow. You know Vince Carter wants to break from his slump against the Hawks (or anyone, really). Can RJ keep up his personal roll of attacking and not missing free throws? Coach Mike Woodson is on the hot seat now that he has talent - he needs to get them to play at a high level and start growing up. Will the Nets bench play better? This should be a good opportunity for them to shine. All eyes on Boki Nachbar, who's also due.

Atlanta Hawks Cheat Sheet
The Story From Atlanta: Joe Johnson said it best (after the loss to the Pistons Sunday night), “They scored every time we turned it over. Even when we were up we still needed to be in attack mode. But we were playing too cautious and trying to protect the lead instead of pushing it out there further.”
"It would be different if we'd have made mistakes and been lost out there and let somebody blow us out," a visibly disappointed Tyronn Lue said after the Hawks' 21-turnover performance against Detroit. "We lost that nine-point lead because we didn't take care of the ball like we needed to. And with the teams we're seeing every night, New Jersey, Phoenix, Boston and Washington, you just can't turn the ball over 19, 20 or 21 times and expect to win.
"You just can't do it against those types of teams, those playoff teams. They'll make you pay for it the same way Detroit made us pay for it at the end."
Pain Game: C Zaza Pachulia (knee) is out. PG Speedy Claxton (knee) and C Lorenzen Wright (groin) are questionable. G Marcus Williams is out for the Nets.
