Disturbing Trends
So the Knicks aren't going to make the playoffs for the fourth straight season, but what about our Nets? They're in serious jeopardy of watching their string of six consecutive seasons (2001 - 2002 - 2006 - 2007) come to an end, after playing so inconsistently all season long, both before and after the trade of Jason Kidd. The Knicks are badly run, with coach Isiah Thomas likely on his way out after this season, but they're also a collection of misfits that Isiah seems ok with toying with them all the time. Eddie Curry is on the shelf, as is Stephon Marbury (who also won't be back), and the remaining Knicks don't seem to care (with the exception of Jamal Crawford and David Lee). The Nets, at 29 - 41, need to win all 12 remaining to finish .500, so it ain't gonna be a stellar season no matter how you cut it. Vince Carter has assumed a new warrior pride, but he's having trouble getting his mates to follow. With all of that said, the Knicks are 3 - 0 against the Nets, so expect that trend could easily continue.

Why Should You Watch? Half the Net roster has turned over since the last matchup, so let's see if Devin Harris has any better success against the Knicks than Jason Kidd. Vince Carter continues his roll, and loves the Garden, so could we see some magic in the air? Someone needs to step up and help out VC, especially from the bench. Can they handle the truth? Everyone loves to boo Isiah Thomas, but can you really say that you don't enjoy watching it happen too? Changes are coming for both squads in the off-season, so this is your last chance to see the current rosters for both teams (as if you'd want to see this Knick team). Can Devin Harris kill the Knicks with speed? You'd want to see the results. How desperate can the Nets play, especially with their arch rivals under their own roof?

New York Knicks Cheat Sheet
The Story From NYC: From the Star Ledger: How long will Isiah last? Is Pacer CEO Donnie Walsh headed to New York? Apparently there is competition from Milwaukee for his services. "I think it may happen pretty quickly," the executive said of Walsh finding a new job. "Maybe in the next few days, because there's competition now between motivated owners."

Those motivated owners include Dolan, Sen. Herb Kohl of the Bucks, and Mel and Herb Simon of the Pacers. Walsh is expected to meet with Pacers ownership soon to determine his future there. But, unless the Simons change his mind, Walsh appears headed elsewhere.

"I think he knows that his time in Indiana has run out," the executive said, "and that if he wants to work, he'll have to move on and wants to get settled quickly."

It's not clear if Walsh is the Knicks' first choice, but it seems they have begun to look elsewhere after four consecutive losing seasons under Thomas, including two as head coach. In addition, a new reason for Dolan to finally sever ties with his president has come to light. After acquiring Zach Randolph in a much-trumpeted trade from Portland over the summer, Thomas tried to get rid of him less than a year later, according to Kohl.

Pain Game: C Eddie Curry (knee) and G Stephon Marbury (ankle) are out. G Nate Robinson (knee) and G Quentin Richardson (personal) are questionable. The Nets report no major injuries.
