Orlando Magic (36 - 22) - Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 7:30PM EST - Izod Center
This Magic Moment
Is there magic in the air for the Nets? The Post-Kidd Nets have won two of three, but the caliber of competition goes up tenfold with the return of the Magic to the Izod on Tuesday night. The Magic have succeeded where the Nets have failed, building a formidable team for coach Stan Van Gundy, all on the back of the former manchild, now just a beast, Dwight Howard. They're starting to gel as a team as well, working players like Brian Cook and Maurice Evans into the rotation while feeding Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis. They even passed on making a deal at the trading deadline, preferring to stand pat and take their chances coming out of the East. Howard was called out by his coach a few weeks ago for coasting on defense, and since then he's been, well, huge. So, with 11 more wins (and 2 against the Nets), can the Nets pull the rabbit out of the hat and get a win against the Magic? Devin Harris isn't due back, so the pressure will be squarely on Marcus Williams. Is he, and are the Nets, up to that task?

Why Should You Watch? Should be great theater to see if the Nets can handle the jump in class without their former leader. Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson have to lead the way and set the example, but what Josh Boone, Sean Williams, Desagana Diop and Nenad Krsitc do up front with Howard will go a long way toward telling the tale. Coach Lawrence Frank needs to move the chess pieces defensively to make this one work - look for Diop and Trenton Hassell to play more extended roles in this one. Marcus Williams is 2 for 3, can he perform like his former starting PG and will the Nets to a win?

Orlando Magic Cheat Sheet
The Story From Orlando: From the Orlando Sentinel: Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make, according to Magic GM Otis Smith. " The way things are going, I'm not a guy who wants to change directions in the middle of the season," General Manager Otis Smith said after the deadline passed. "I like our team now the way it is. Any major deal will have to wait."

Pain Game: F Tony Battie (shoulder) is out for the Magic. G Devin Harris (ankle) is out for the Nets.
