Philadelphia 76'ers (37 - 37) - Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 7:30PM EST - Izod Center
Change In Direction
As we head into the season's final stretch, one Atlantic Division team is trying to get a higher position in the playoff seedings, while one is struggling (and failing) just to qualify. Who would have ever believed at the beginning of the season that the Sixers would be moving forward and the Nets moving backward? Raise your hand if you did. Sure, I guess some of you might have, but the Sixers appeared to be rebuilding, while the Nets going strong with Jason Kidd. That's all changed, as a team of relative unknowns lead by Andre Iguodala has played some of the best ball of the second half under former Net GM and now Philly prez Ed Stefanski, while the Nets just can't seem to string together more than two wins at a time (and employ Keith Van Horn, former Net and Sixer, just for giggles to boot). Defense has been suspect while the offense is just fine - who would have guessed that again we'd be referring to the Nets? The Nets need to gain 3 games with 8 remaining to catch the Hawks, and we're thinking the Sixers aren't exactly going to let them try. It could be the beginning of the end tonight at the Izod.
Why
Should You Watch? Well, Netsfans, I certainly will be the first to admit the Nets are indeed more entertaining to watch under the guidance of Devin Harris, at least offensively. Maybe you need to watch to see if the Nets remember what defense looks like. Sam Dalembert and Sean Williams (if he plays) are so great to watch when they swat the shots. Vince Carter is leaving it all on the court, too bad he can't get enough Nets to go with him. Harris and Andre Miller are good to great points, so that battle could become the new Atlantic Division standar. Face it, Netsfans - Lawrence Frank ain't gonna convince this bunch to play defense, so you may as well watch to see how in the heck he tries to motivate his team.

Philadelphia 76'ers Cheat Sheet
The Story From Illa-del: From the Philadelphia Inquirer: Sixer star Andre Iguodala had this to say after the surging Sixers dropped their second straight game on Sunday: "Hopefully, we continue to play hard and have to go out with energy every night and can't be happy where we're at," said Iguodala, who scored 19 points against Cleveland. "We kind of got that way before the Phoenix game, a little too cool with our position."
Iguodala said the Sixers need the hard-hat mentality they had in winning 19 of 24 games before this two-game slump.
"Teams are coming after us, and we have to learn that the season isn't over until it's over," Iguodala said.
Iguodala suggested the team may have relaxed after the Sixers built an 11-point lead over the Cavs late in the second quarter. Cleveland cut it to 48-43 at halftime and outcored the Sixers by 25-20 in the third.
"They got loose balls and open shots and continued to attack," Iguodala said.
Pain Game: F Herbert Hill (knee) is out for the Sixers. The Nets are reporting no injuries.
