Washington Wizards (0 - 3) - Thursday, November 8, 2007, 7:30PM EST - Izod Center
Disappearing Act?
They were a hip pick to make some noise this year, but the Washington Wizards are thus far 0 - 3 and disappearing quickly, with Gilbert Arenas struggling and Etan Thomas lost for the season. Sounds as if defense is in short supply other than "Brenda" Haywood, who's averaging a double-double to boot (the Wiz lead the NBA in rebounding thus far). The Nets are 12 - 1 at home against the Wiz of late, and with Vince Carter also struggling despite the 3 - 1 start, it could be all hands on deck offensively for this one. Let's see if there's any magic left in the Wiz, or if the Nets have the ability to zap the Wiz into 0 - 4 territory. Should be a fun one - visits with Eddie Jordan always are.

Why Should You Watch? Who gets to guard the gimpy but still potent Gilbert Arenas? Could be trouble for the Nets. Can VC break free? This would be a good team in which to do so, as their defensive instincts, well, stink (they're the fifth worst team in points allowed...). Antawn Jamison always gives the Nets trouble, but don't forget about Caron Butler. Butler vs. Richard Jefferson, who's more than held his own against better already this year, should be a battle as well. The Nets bench should have a decided edge vs. Washington, but they've yet to prove themselves on a consistent basis.

Washington Wizards Cheat Sheet
The Story From DC: From the Washington Post:
Washington Wizards center Brendan Haywood
has been the bright spot for the Wiz in their 0 - 3 start, holding his own against Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett.

"He has been terrific," Wizards Coach Eddie Jordan said. "We told him [Saturday night] that this was going to be the ultimate challenge. They were different types of dominating centers, Garnett and Howard, and he really responded. He can play on a high level like that."

Pain Game: C Etan Thomas (heart) and C Oleksiy Pecherov (ankle) are out. G Gilbert Arenas (knee) is questionable (trust me, he'll play). G Marcus Williams (foot) won't dress for the Nets.
