Things Change
It happened one night in 1997. In a blockbuster trade, the Nets said goodbye to stiff Shawn Bradley and hello to scoring machine Sam Cassel. To celebrate, my faithful pal Champagne popped for two seats behind the visitor’s bench for a Nets-Heat match-up at the Continental Arena. Suddenly, screaming at Pat Riley felt good again.
Joe yells at Pat Riley, "Let's dial back on the Man-Tan!"
Joe tearfully explains that "This is who I am."

The Heat beat the Nets 92-87. And yet, I had a sense this could well be the turning point of a franchise. A production crew from TNT was drawn to my spirit of renewal. Staring into their cameras I delivered this gem: "...from the beginning to the end, they were just hustling and playing well, and, you know, trying, which we haven't seen a lot of lately." They dubbed me "Joe Netsfan." The turning point of a man!
My Pledge
Being randomly annointed “voice of the people” carries an obligation I won’t take lightly. This site will present my 100% uncensored, half-season-package, warts-and-all point of view on our beloved, snake-bitten Nets. That’s a promise. Fifty cents off my next Blimpie sandwich? Size Medium t-shirt air-rocketed into my lap? Mysterious seating upgrade to the Continental Arena’s dazzling celebrity row? Go ahead and tempt me, Rod Thorn – I will not be your plaything! There’s one fan whose integrity will never be compromised. You can always trust in Joe.
